Mingi Hyun
Founder & Managing Director
Mingi Hyun is the founder and managing director of POLEMOS ADVISORS, where he combines his expertise in strategic communications and politico-military affairs to help defense technology startups build market presence and accelerate growth. His distinctive approach enables innovative companies to effectively communicate their capabilities to stakeholders critical to equipping our warfighters with war-winning solutions.
In parallel to his role at POLEMOS, he also serves as a Research Fellow in East Asian Naval Affairs at YCAPS, where he analyzes force structure development of North-East Asian navies and the implications of artificial intelligence on naval and air warfare.
Prior to founding POLEMOS, Mingi was based in Samsung's global headquarters in Korea, where he led a spectrum of global communications and public affairs initiatives for Samsung's technology and biopharmaceutical affiliates. He has also advised numerous multinational corporations in technology and pharmaceutical industries while working at leading global communications firms, including FleishmanHillard and Hill & Knowlton.
Mingi's unique perspective stems from his earlier career in defense analysis, serving as a senior research fellow at the Korea Institute for Maritime Strategy (KIMS), a Seoul-based thinktank affiliated with the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN), and as a naval analyst at AMI International, where he analyzed force structures of international navies and conducted market analysis on behalf of leading US- and European-based defense contractors.
Mingi holds an MA in History of Warfare and BA (Hons) in War Studies from King’s College London. He is a member of the Navy League of the United States, the US Naval Institute, and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). He is based in New Jersey.
